Cherish Our Mothers and Their Health!

Cherish Our Mothers and Their Health.

Mother’s Day—a day dedicated to honoring the incredible women who have shaped our lives, nurtured our dreams, and held us close through every storm. It’s a celebration of love, sacrifice, and unwavering strength. As we prepare to celebrate this special day, let’s delve into the heartwarming essence of Mother’s Day and explore meaningful ways to express our gratitude.

The Origin of Mother’s Day

The concept of Mother’s Day dates back centuries, but its modern form emerged in the early 20th century. Here’s a brief history:

  1. Ancient Roots: Ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated maternal goddesses with festivals dedicated to motherhood. These festivities honored Cybele, Rhea, and other maternal deities.
  2. Early Christian Influence: In Christian tradition, the fourth Sunday of Lent was known as “Mothering Sunday.” On this day, people returned to their “mother church” and reunited with their families. It gradually evolved into a day to honor mothers.
  3. Anna Jarvis and the Modern Mother’s Day: Anna Jarvis, an American social activist, campaigned for an official day to honor mothers. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day—a day to recognize maternal love and sacrifice.

Our Amazing Moms

No matter if it’s your birth mother or a stepmom, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, coworker, or friend’s mom. Whoever your mom – or mother figure is – they are all amazing, and it’s important we honor and celebrate them this Mother’s Day, May 12.

Unfortunately, as children we usually take our mothers for granted. She could be the most amazing mom in the world, yet we have this block that doesn’t really let us appreciate all a mom does and the importance of her role in our lives.

We often don’t realize what a rewarding and tough role moms’ have 24/7 365 days a year – and it never ends.

Being a mother isn’t just giving advice, cleaning and dressing wounds, and driving back and forth to school and practices. You need them just as much when you’re older than as a child – sometimes even more than ever. And even though we are (and should be) grateful for them every day, it’s nice to show them our appreciation and the impact they’ve made on our lives for at least one day.

This brings me to the point of what I think mothers really want for Mother's Day: Appreciation. Motherhood is a very selfless job; you mostly do things for others, especially your kids. But the thought of your kids appreciating all your hard work, is priceless and precious to any mom. Appreciation can come in so many shapes and forms and dollar value have nothing to do with it but if you’re still stumped for ideas, here is one.

Regardless of if it's a first-time mom or a great-grandmother – motherhood is a journey with new perspectives and learning curves. All these amazing women make it their duty to ensure we are happy and healthy. So, let’s return the favor and take care of them as they do to us.
